Teen Youtube song writing sensation Poppy Douglas’s lead singer boyfriend Ty’s been criss-crossing the country and living it up on tour for months while Poppy has been stuck in the boring suburbs, finishing out the school year.

But it’s Summer now, and the best thing just happened: Poppy’s royalties for writing the hit song The Kiss Off just came in. She’s minted, and she knows just what she’s going to blow it on.

Ty’s band Academy of Lies are headlining a summer music festival, and Poppy is taking her girlfriends along for the best weekend of their lives. It’s all organized: the weekend is going to be full of camping under the stars, backstage passes, VIP rooms and partying like rock stars, not to mention some long awaited one-on-one time with America’s favorite front man.

Except, when someone drops out of the trip and Poppy takes the opportunity to mend a broken friendship, it doesn’t quite go according to plan. And when she meets her boyfriend’s BFF from another band, the paparazzi form their own totally wrong conclusions. There’s also the matter of Ty’s ‘super fan’ stalker, but the less said about her the better.

The biggest test of all comes in the form of an opportunity too good to pass up. But will insecurities and jealousy stand in Poppy’s way? Can Poppy and Ty’s relationship even survive it?

Life is about to get much more complicated for Poppy Douglas, but what can you expect when your boyfriend is a rock star?
 

Misty's Review:

The sequel to The Kiss Off, Over It continues the story of Poppy, a teenaged YouTube songwriting sensation. This is a hilarious story full of teenaged angst and awkwardness. I read both books in preparation for this review and just laughed my head off for the whole first half of The Kiss Off. I was curious to see if Billington could outdo herself with the second book, and while the writing in the second book did seem to be tighter, I think it lost a bit of the sheer hilarity of the first.

Also, Over It didn't really have a romance, so right there you know I'm not going to like it as well. And not to be a spoiler, but Poppy and Ty are kind of breaking up--but it's totally right because they can't stay together. They don't spend hardly any of the book together (bummer) and Ty's character is never really developed (also a bummer). I just kept seeing so many different directions the story could go, but it kept barreling down this path of destruction with Poppy making all these terrible choices that result in terrible outcomes. It's totally sad because I feel like she wasn't learning along the way, but just has this one epiphany at the end that is kind of out of nowhere. Still, both books were funny, interesting, and left me with something to think about.

Misty's Review:

Pwned. I still don't know what that means, but this was a delightful read with messages about bullying and standing up for yourself and others.

Raegan is a high school senior who hides her nerdy love of gaming behind her cool cheerleader persona. But when fellow guild member, Parker, moves to her town and the other cheerleaders decide to make him the target of their next prank, Raegan has some tough decisions to make. Should she go along with the crowd, or stop what is happening to her best online friend? The answer seems obvious, but knowing and doing are sometimes two different things. To complicate matters, Parker is kind of cute, well, really cute, and he sees something in the real life Raegan that makes her wonder why she's been hiding who she really is.

Raegan shows the amount of character growth I expect in a YA protagonist, and I really liked that she had parents who expected her to live up to a standard of responsibility (absent in many YA reads). I also found much to admire in Parker's character--his bravery a clear contrast to Raegan's cowardice.

I really liked that Pwned offers a cute, clean, relevant story for teens and adults who may face similar problems, when so many young adult books these days are going for sensationalism to get readers. Camp proves you don't need violence, sex, and gore to develop a good story. I recommend this to readers of all ages who enjoy a cute romance with a moral.

Fight For You by Misty Moncur

Thanks for stopping by on the Fight For You blog tour. Today I have the privilege of reviewing a book written by one of my favorite authors. I love Misty's work. If I really like a book I will go back and read it again and again (just like rewatching my favorite movie) when new books aren't coming out fast enough for me to read. Fight For You is like that for me. If I don't have a new book to read this is what I pick up and love it every time!

After reading Daughter of Helaman I was so excited to find out Misty had written more. I loved Fight For You! I was hooked from page one. From the very beginning you are drawn in and captivated. Once I started reading I did not want to stop!! You'll be hooked just like I was and then you will want to read more. I am already excited for the 3rd book!

Fight For You picks up where the first one leaves off. Keturah is in the army now and is trying to find her place within her unit. The young men in her unit are not making it easy for her to fit in. You will feel for her as she struggles to belong, as she is pulled between her two young men. . . one who has known her for her whole life and the other who understands her warrior heart. And there is a lot more of the handsome warrior, Gideon!  

 Misty Moncur has done it again. It was a wonderful book. I highly recommend it!         



 Keturah fought her way into the army, but now she's in Judea building fortifications, and the only thing she's fought so far is boredom. The work is hard, and the other soldiers don't think she can pull her weight. Her brothers are becoming strangers, and Zeke's jealousy is getting worse - because Keturah is falling in love with the wrong warrior.
